Soil nailing

Soil nailing

A rapid and flexible earth retention solution, soil nailing can be used as both a remedial measure, to make unstable soil slopes safe, and as a top-down construction technique, whereby existing or new soil slopes can be engineered at steeper inclines.

Geologic Boreholes provides an all-in-one soil nail wall installation service, comprising soil nail design, supply, installation and testing.

The soil nails we install are generally steel bar type, grouted into near-horizontal pre-drilled holes. We apply reinforced shotcrete or precast concrete facing panels, held in place by bearing plates bolted to the soil nail head.

The tensioned soil nails effectively bind the slope together, creating a solid retaining structure in far less time, and at a much lower cost, than a traditional block-built retaining wall.
