Geologic Boreholes were contacted by the owner of the existing A35 road tunnel at Charmouth in Devon. This grade 2 listed tunnel has been unused for many years and was recently purchased for development. This 67M tunnel is being converted into a rifle range that will be used for training in the upcoming 2012 Olympics, and provide an interesting centre for local people and holiday makers to make use of for years to come. read more
Geologic Borehole and Systems were contacted by a Dorset farmer who is in the process of establishing a £1 million dairy farm project. The finished dairy will deal with a herd of 450 and be one of the largest dairies in Dorset. The farm is currently served by a mixture of mains water and an existing spring fed private supply. read more
Geologic Borehole and Systems were contacted by a holiday home owner who had a family owned property in rural North Devon. There was no mains water at the property and for years they had been using rainwater from the roof to supply water to the property. The property was undergoing some works and updates and the owner had decided to investigate the possibility of getting a reliable and useable borehole water supply. A site visit was arranged and it soon became clear that one of the biggest factors was access to the property. Very tight roads meant that a small lorry was only able to get to within about ¼ mile of the property. Other borehole companies that the customer had spoken to had been unable to get equipment to site, or were quoting huge figures to undertake the works. read more
Geologic Borehole and Systems were contacted by a farm and land owner who like many in rural areas was responsible for 3 miles of mains water supply pipe over their and neighbours land. Already spending significant amounts of money every month for mains water, they were also being charged in excess of £300 per month owing to a couple of leaks on the pipe run. These leaks were being caused by vehicles such as tractors and foragers driving over the old and shallow pipe and rupturing it. These leaks are incredibly difficult to find and very costly. This is a common story for many homeowners who also have long runs of water pipe that they are responsible for. read more
Geologic Borehole and Systems were contacted by a couple who owned 3 acres of agricultural land. They had a small agricultural building with electricity, but there was no water supply to the land. The building was used as storage for machinery and as a small workshop. They spent a lot of time on the plot and as such had been looking into a water supply for quite some time. The mains were about 600M away, but the quote to connect to this was so large it wasn’t a viable option. They were also keen to have a private supply to keep ongoing costs to the very minimum. The project brief was a simple borehole pumping to a standpipe, to supply pressurised water to the building and enable buckets to be filled etc. read more
